These days, I call Singapore home. I’m Regional Executive Creative Director at We Are Social Singapore, leading global social campaigns for clients like Samsung, and collaborating with our innovation arm, XYZ, to shape what’s next. (Curious what that means? Check out Luna, our AI-powered retail experience.) I also lead a team of 15 local creatives and collaborate with offices across Asia to unlock business opportunities. I’m proud that during my time here, we’ve won international clients like HBO Max and UOB Bank.

Before this, I was ECD at Edelman Singapore, where I helped build their creative and integrated communications department, leading a creative team of 16 people. I also served as creative community lead for the region — winning new business with brands like Jollibee Fried Chicken and CMC Invest, while deepening our partnerships with Unilever and HP. We had a good run there, earning Edelman Singapore’s first-ever wins at Spikes Asia, The One Show, and our first Grand Prix at Madstars — landing us on Campaign Brief Asia’s Top 10 Hottest Agencies list.

No one: Omar, what brought you to Asia?
Me: Funny you ask.

So, in 2014, I moved to join BBH Singapore (named Ad Age’s International Agency of the Year in 2018) as Creative Director. There, I worked with global brands like Nike, Uber and IKEA, launched innovation projects, and created ideas that made headlines everywhere from Hypebeast to the BBC.

Before Asia, I was part of Leo Burnett’s global HQ in Chicago, where I was named one of Forbes' ‘30 Under 30’ in Marketing & Advertising. I also helped the agency become the most shortlisted US agency at Cannes Outdoor Lions 2013, and Agency of the Year US at The Eye of Ibero-America.

Over the past 20 years, I’ve crafted regional and global campaigns across cultures — moving twice around the world to do what I love. Along the way, I’ve been lucky to work with blue-chip brands like Facebook, P&G, Kellogg’s, and McDonald’s, and to collect some shiny things always worth mentioning in bios — over 100 awards including Cannes Lions, ANDY, The One Show, Clios, Webbys, and more. And I’ve also had the honour of judging some of these shows, including D&AD, CLIOS and the New York Festivals.

Fun fact: I was born in Peru and named after Egyptian actor Omar Sharif (on his birthday too — my mum really committed).
