Say hi at omarsotom1@gmail.com or at +65 87779873
I was born in Peru and named after Egyptian actor Omar Sharif — my mum was a big fan. Fun fact: I was born on the same date as him too, so she really nailed it.
Since then, I’ve spent 20 years building regional and global campaigns across cultures, moving twice across the world to do what I love. In 2011, I joined Leo Burnett’s global HQ in Chicago, where I was named one of Forbes' ‘30 Under 30’ in Marketing & Advertising — and helped the agency become the most shortlisted US agency at Cannes Outdoor Lions 2013 and Agency of the Year US at The Eye of Iberoamerica.
In 2014, I moved to Asia to join BBH Singapore (Ad Age International Agency of the Year 2018) as Creative Director — working with global brands like Nike and IKEA, launching innovation projects, and creating ideas that made headlines from Hypebeast to the BBC.
In 2022, as ECD at Edelman Singapore, I helped build their creative department — winning new business and earning the agency’s first-ever wins at Spikes Asia, The One Show, and our first Grand Prix at Madstars.
Today, I’m Regional ECD at We Are Social Singapore, leading global campaigns for clients like Samsung, and collaborating with our innovation arm, XYZ, to shape what’s next.
Along the way, I’ve created work for brands like Uber, Facebook, P&G, Kellogg’s, and McDonald’s — winning over 90 awards for creativity and effectiveness at shows like Cannes Lions, One Show, Clios, Webbys, and more. I’ve also judged global shows like D&AD and New York Festival.
Outside work, I speak English, Spanish, and a respectable French — and spend my time watching obscure films, boxing, reading graphic novels, or geeking out over Nat Geo.
